LiFePO4 is one of the most stable lithium chemistries: it will not enter thermal runaway the way lithium-cobalt cells can. On top of that, every Proteus Eco battery is sealed to IP67 with a hermetic filler, carries a smart BMS and a 250 A T-type fuse, and is safe even if submerged. Safety lives in the design, and that is where our attention goes.

It follows the boat. Most sailing and motor yachts run a 12 V house system, where the 12.8 V 412 Ah unit is the natural fit. Larger banks, higher loads and many electric or hybrid installations are better on 24 V, where the 25.6 V 206 Ah configuration keeps cable sizes and losses down. We size the whole system with you before recommending either.

They are rated for 6,000 cycles at 90% depth of discharge. Charged every other day, that works out at around thirty years of normal cruising. Capacity loss stays under 1% per 100 cycles, so the pack holds its usable energy far longer than the equipment around it.

Very little is required. Self-discharge is under 3% per month, so a battery left over winter loses almost nothing. For long storage we recommend leaving it partially charged in a dry space within the rated temperature range; the BMS looks after the rest and reports its health over Bluetooth whenever you check.

The built-in smart BMS guards against overcharge, deep discharge, short circuit, over-current and temperature extremes, and raises an alarm before any of them become a problem. A 250 A T-type fuse backs it up against short circuit, and the whole state of the pack is visible on your phone over Bluetooth.
